What information we collect

We collect information about candidates, client contacts, prospective clients and people who contact us or visit our website.

Depending on our relationship with you, this may include: your name, contact details and professional profile; your CV, qualifications, employment history and professional registration details; your career preferences, salary expectations, availability and relevant right-to-work information; notes of recruitment conversations, applications, interviews and feedback; your organisation, role, recruitment requirements and business correspondence; and technical information about website visits, where collected through the technologies described below.

Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is relevant and we have discussed why it is needed.

Where information comes from

We receive information directly from you through conversations, emails, forms, CVs and applications.

We may also obtain relevant professional information from LinkedIn, publicly available professional profiles, law firm websites, professional registers, referrals and recruitment correspondence with clients.

How and why we use information

We use personal information to: respond to enquiries and provide recruitment services; understand candidates' experience and career preferences; identify and discuss suitable opportunities; research relevant markets and approach suitable lawyers; assess suitability for vacancies and coordinate introductions, interviews and offers; maintain candidate and client relationships; discuss our services and relevant recruitment opportunities; and administer our business, maintain records and meet legal obligations.

Our lawful bases

We generally rely on legitimate interests for recruitment research, professional approaches, maintaining relationships and administering our business. These interests include connecting lawyers with suitable opportunities and helping firms recruit. We consider the effect on individuals and their reasonable expectations.

Where applicable, we also rely on processing necessary to enter into or perform a contract, comply with legal obligations, or act on your consent.

Where consent is required, you may withdraw it by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out lawfully before withdrawal.

If sensitive personal information is needed, we will identify the relevant additional legal condition and explain its use as appropriate.

Sharing information

We only share a candidate's CV with a prospective employer with the candidate's agreement.

We may share relevant information with clients during an agreed recruitment process, and with service providers supporting our website, communications and recruitment records. These include GoDaddy, Microsoft 365 and Recruit CRM.

We also use LinkedIn for professional research and communication. LinkedIn processes information under its own privacy notice.

Information may be shared with professional advisers or authorities where necessary for legal obligations, advice or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

We do not sell personal information.

Overseas processing

Some technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where this occurs, applicable UK data protection requirements must be met, including appropriate transfer safeguards where required.

You can contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your data.

How long we keep information

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this notice.

When assessing retention, we consider our ongoing relationship with you, when we last had meaningful contact, whether information remains accurate and relevant, and any legal, accounting or claims-related requirements.

We review information and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed. You may contact us to request deletion. Some records may need to be retained where there is a continuing lawful reason.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your information, restrict processing, object to processing, and receive or transfer certain information.

You may object to direct marketing at any time. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity and will respond within the applicable statutory timescale.

If you have concerns about how we handle your personal information, please contact [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection.

Cookies and website technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are necessary for website functions and security. Others support optional analytics.

We use GoDaddy's built-in analytics service to collect information about page visits and interactions. The analytics script is loaded only after you accept optional cookies. If you decline, the script is not loaded. You can change your choice using Cookie preferences in the footer. If you previously accepted and then choose Reject optional cookies, click tracking stops immediately and the page reloads without loading the analytics script.

Our website includes a Recruit CRM job board on the Current Roles page. This service is embedded directly and loads when you visit that page. Recruit CRM may set its own cookies and processes information under its own privacy notice.

You can accept or decline optional cookies using the banner shown when you first visit the site. You can change your choice at any time using the link in the footer.

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect website functions.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No website or transmission method is completely secure.
